Wu Lisong was born in January 1983 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province.

He is currently an associate professor at the School of History of Nanjing University, a deputy dean of the Institute of New China History of Nanjing University, director of the Oral History Research Center, and a part-time researcher at the Asia-Pacific Development Research Center of Nanjing University. He is also a member of the Chinese Confucian Academy, an executive member and a deputy secretary-general of Jiangsu Oral History Research Association, an academic consultant of Jiangsu Genealogy and Family Culture Research Association, and a member of Jiangsu National Reading Promotion Association, an associate editor of New Critical Review.

He received his bachelor’s in history in 2005, master’s in 2008 and doctorate in 2011 from the Department of History at Nanjing University. He studied ancient Chinese history for his master's and an intellectual history of China for his doctorate under the supervision of Professor Yan Shian. His main research direction is the intellectual history of ancient China and cultural history of China. He has visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong, National Taiwan University, and Tokushima University in Japan.
